DuPage County Coroner

Peter (“Pete”) A. Siekmann is a lifelong Republican and resident of DuPage County. He grew up and still resides in West Chicago with his wife of 24 years, Jeni and their three children – Kelly, John and Jim.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Pete has served the people of DuPage County for 31 years. He began his career with the coroner’s office as a Disaster Deputy Coroner in 1974. Two years later he was hired for the full-time position of Deputy Coroner, where he worked as an investigator on the street for 17 years. For the next 11 years Pete was the Chief Deputy Coroner, supervising the investigations division. He was elected to the position of Coroner in 2004.

Throughout his career Pete has been involved in over 10,000 death investigations, including over 165 homicides. He has attended several hundred autopsies and presided over more than 1,000 inquest hearings. In addition, Pete has given numerous lectures to schools and organizations regarding public safety and the causes and prevention of premature death. He was also instrumental in the development of a disaster plan that outlines the role the coroner’s office would have if a disastrous event were to occur.
